Fall/Winter Tip for Conserving Heat

victoria.aharmonyUncategorized

When the cold weather hits our region, it’s important to keep the heat inside in our homes. In addition to having our heating systems serviced on a regular basis, it is a good idea to check windows to help ensure that we are not losing heat through them.

A good way to start is by checking for condensation between the panes of glass in multi-paned windows. Make certain that the glass panes are clean, and check at several different times of day since temperatures and sunlight tend to affect visibility of fog/moisture between glass panes. The reason this is important is that when the seal is broken, the thermo-pane functionality is affected, this is when heat loss occurs.

Also, in homes with single pane windows, now is a good time to replace screens with storm windows.
